Terms and Conditions for submissions to the public consultation for An Coimisiún Toghcháin Education and Public Engagement Strategy

• Anonymous submissions will not be accepted.
• All valid submissions that provide consent for publication may be published on www.electoralcommission.ie including full names (first name, surname and name of organisation, if applicable).
• Personal information, including names, may be redacted if requested or required under relevant legislation.
• Contact information including email address will be collected to verify submissions. This information will not be published.
• Submissions that are deemed to be offensive, inappropriate or not relevant to the work of An Coimisiún Toghcháin may be deemed invalid.
• Content from the submissions may be cited or quoted in reports and strategy documents prepared by An Coimisiún Toghcháin.
• Submissions from persons under 18 are welcome and will be treated in accordance with relevant data protections provisions.
• Submissions from persons under 16 will require appropriate parental consent for data processing and publication.
• In the case of submissions received via schools that include the input of students, the school assumes responsibility for obtaining parental consent of persons under the age of 16 for the purposes of data processing and publication.
• Submissions will be held by the An Coimisiún Toghcháin for a period of [1 year] and will be destroyed thereafter.
• Consent to process and publish the data in question can be withdrawn by the data subject (if over 16) or parent (if data subject is under 16) in the following manner [ e.g. by contacting the ACT data protection officer]
• Review of submissions will be subject to legal considerations including:
  • Data Protection legislation;
  • Prohibition of Incitement to Hatred Act 1989;
  • Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act 2020;
  • Defamation Act 2009.
